Swami Sankarananda

“I am a simple pilgrim. I’ve walked across the USA for two and a half years, then traveled from town to town in a tiny motorhome emblazoned with the telling words “Yoga for Peace”, not I am steward with Divine Grace Yoga Ashram near Sedona, Arizona. I serve the divine in all and support our universal journey to find the happiness and peace for which we search.

My path has taken me through India and Sannyasa (renunciation of lower “self”) of the great teacher Adi Sankaracharya’s, and more recently Sri Swami Sivanandaji’s “Saraswati” lineage, thus I am called a “Swami”. I honor equally all beings, faiths and paths. There is but one Truth that all of the great teachers speak of and each of us are children of that Truth. The goal of each of us is finally to know Peace, which is attained internally through purification and relinquishment reaching equanimity of mind (variously called Yoga, Surrender, Submission, Faith, Selflessness, etc) and externally through abiding kindness.

The mission I’m given is to offer kindness, to inspire, to demonstrate living in Peace, and to share the ancient and universal teachings of Yoga through talks, workshops and practices. The guidance is practical, it includes some philosophy, examples and stories and focuses on practices that you can implement to bring peace and joy into your life.”
