A Service Weekend

Do not always ask, ‘What will I get out of it?’ Say instead, “I wonder how I can help.” – Sri Gyanamata

We often refer to Paramahansa Yogananda’s quote about the importance of both the “honey and the hive.” As spiritual seekers we come together to meditate, allowing the divine nectar of God’s honey to flow through this special place we call Song of the Morning. We also recognize the importance of the hive – the structure and place – and taking care of it is an honor and blessing.

Join us in the joyful practice of service to the hive during this “Worker Bee” weekend. There will be a variety of projects for different interests and capacities.

Karma Yoga: The path of Karma Yoga, or the path of selfless service, is the practice of offering the fruits of our work to the Divine without any expectation of reward or personal gain. By following the path of Karma Yoga, we can learn to connect with the peace and presence of the Divine by approaching the task at hand with selflessness and presence. Our intention during this service weekend is to help you explore and come to understand this practice more deeply. You will leave with tools for integrating the practice of karma yoga into your daily life, and moreover you will learn how the practice of karma yoga can deepen your sadhana and harmonize your inner life and outer life.

Community Meals: Everyone who signs up for the retreat will select a way to pitch in during the weekend meals, such as setting tables, washing dishes, or chopping vegetables, to more fully experience life in community.

Lodging & Meals: By clicking the Register Now button, you can see Lodging details including room photos. Prices include the cost of meals and retreat programs. If you continue your registration, you can also complete payment.
