“The soul loves to meditate, for in that lies its greatest joy: communion with the all-loving Spirit.”
~Paramahansa Yogananda
We invite you to this special retreat that will focus on deepening our understanding and practice of meditation as both an art and a science, as taught by Paramahansa Yogananda and his Kriya Yoga lineage. As a science, yoga meditation is universal and is rooted in the Raja Yoga of Patanjali Yoga Sutras, in the Bhagavad Gita, and in various other yoga texts. As an art, meditation is a relationship, deepening a personal communion with the Divine. This retreat is designed for both new meditators and veteran practitioners, gathered into a devotional and concentrated silence in this sacred land of Song of the Morning.
During this retreat, we will review yogic scripture and teachings, practice devotional chanting as a form of yoga, check various meditation postures, and most importantly, meditate deeply with a group of sincere and committed souls. Be prepared to sit in silent meditation for at least one hour. If you feel an inner calling to join, have faith! You just might be surprised by the divine grace flowing from the Divine and from the gathered devotees on this sacred land. There will be ample time in Nature and for personal reflection and quiet.
This Meditation Retreat is part of an annual three part series. Guests are welcome to join for one, or all three, in 2026 taking place in March, July, and November. Each Meditation Retreat is suitable for beginners and long time meditators alike, and will focus on a specific theme to help participants deepen their practice in a new way.
For planning purposes, we request the community register through this page; there is no payment unless you choose meals or wish to donate.
Meals: We welcome you to join the staff and guests in fellowship for meals. During your general retreat registration on this page, you may add meals. Please reserve by March 10 so the kitchen can plan accordingly. If you would like to do a work trade in exchange for your meals, please email office@songofthemorning.org and we will be happy to make arrangements with you.
Program Fee: The Retreat and Naren are working together to make it possible for those who are here helping to build and grow SOM to participate in these retreats. We don’t want cost to be a limiting factor, and want it to be as easy as possible for you to join. There is no cost for joining the program! You will have the option to contribute during registration if you wish, or you are welcome to do so after the program concludes.
Donations: Any contributions made toward this retreat or during the commemoration ceremonies will help make this event sustainable for years to come.
